Additional pounds after the baby is born is a normal thing for many woman, but there are several things to consider when you are planning to shed the post pregnancy weight. If your are the ones who have not lost much weight afterbirth, then check your face, ankles and hands. If they are swollen, then you should lose that extra weightby perspiring and urinating frequently. So, here are ten tips to lose weight after the birth of your baby.

  • Drink plenty of water at least 10-12 glasses of water everyday and consume lots of sodas and juices with some water instead of high sugar beverages. Fresh lemon juice is another best drink and you can try flavoured seltzer water, as these do not contain calories.
  • Keep some healthy snacks like popcorn, nuts, raisin and wheat crackers and stop buying junk food as it can be tempting.
  • Lean meats like cuts of beef and boneless chicken can be taken.
  • Consume whole grains like breads, pastas and cereals instead of the white versions.
  • Never get fooled by food products that are labelled as non-fat because some of them are loaded with calories and have high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated vegetable oils, which are not healthy.
  • Try to resist the urge to indulge in a fast food meal and if you get tempted, then order a salad not the fatty fries and burgers.
  • Start light exercise as soon as you feel ready, if the weather is permitting, then go for a 10 minute walk and slowly increase the time to 20 minutes every day. Babies can be worn in a sling or snuglior a baby stroller or a jogger can be used when they are heavy.
  • Try and find ways to increase the exercise sessions by parking your car far away or start using stairs instead of elevators.
  • Feeding your baby can burn up to 500 calories every day, so the longer you feed, the more calories you burn.
  • Join a gym where they may offer babysitting services as well.

You have gained weight in 9 months so, you can take the same time to reduce the excess fat. Reduce the intake of fatty foods slowly because if you deprive your body suddenly, then the more you crave for it. The three important things include, consistent exercise, making right food choices and changing your lifestyle which is the key factors in reducing weight.
